About David
David Hernandez is a 21-year-old Mexican American from Chicago. At a young age he fell in love with performing. From making beats, writing poems, teaching poetry, writing books, and producing his own theatre productions, David has always used art to express himself and makes sense of the world around him. David is a son, brother, student, teacher, and is dedicated to his dreams. His goals are to graduate from college and make his dreams come true in the world of performance while teaching and inspiring younger kids along the way.

Head of Argo Theatre
As a High School Theatre Director, David was responsible for overseeing the comprehensive theatre program, which included teaching various theatre courses and guiding students in their artistic development. He led the production of multiple plays, managing all aspects from budgeting and casting to directing and designing. David's role encompassed curating performances, house management, production planning, and marketing efforts to promote shows effectively. Additionally, David maintained meticulous records to track progress and ensure a smooth production process, fostering a collaborative and creative environment for students and staff alike. David produced 23 shows during his time there.




The Hunchback of Seville

MAMA
An Original Devised Piece by David Hernandez
A piece about 4 women of color telling the story of their mother through monologue, dialogue, movement, singing, and dancing. MAMA features the stories of a Mexican mother with Epilepsy, a Black mother watching her life fly by, a Puerto Rican mother navigating her love life, and an Eithopian mother starting a new life in America.

LONG WAY BACK

Frustrated, she recruits her friends Ben, Zoey, and Max to put on their own show. However, Mr. Kent is not very fond of that idea. A play about friendships, power, and doing it yourself.
